Who we are

Mogabiri Farm Extension Centre (MFEC) is a faith-based organization established in 1986 under the Anglican Church of Tanzania, Diocese of Tarime, in Tarime District, Mara Region, Tanzania. The centre works to empower rural communities by promoting sustainable agriculture, community health awareness, and improved livelihoods. Through training, innovation, and collaboration with farmers and development partners, MFEC advances agroecology-based farming practices that protect the environment, strengthen food security, and enhance the resilience of smallholder farmers

Objectives & Purpose

Our Objectives

Mogabiri Farm Extension Centre works to improve livelihoods, strengthen communities, and promote sustainable development through the following objectives.

To enhance sustainable agricultural projects for production of farm products for household subsistence and economic generation.

To promote access to social services for people living with disabilities, elders, children, and women to overcome their situational challenges.

To advocate for ecological land use management that improves agricultural production while protecting the natural environment.

To strengthen small income-generating groups through entrepreneurship training and improved capital management.

To promote participatory community ownership and nurture sustainability of development efforts.

To promote gender equality, equity, and development to increase women's economic empowerment.

Our Purpose

To improve sustainable farming methods based on both local knowledge and modern resources, enhancing food self-reliance and increasing the income-generating potential of communities across Tanzania.

Sustainable Agriculture Training

Sustainable Agriculture Training

MFEC trains smallholder farmers on improved and sustainable farming practices, including soil management, crop production, and climate-smart agriculture to increase productivity and strengthen food security in rural communities.

Agroecology and Environmental Conservation

Agroecology & Environmental Conservation

Through agroecology practices, MFEC promotes sustainable land use, biodiversity conservation, and responsible environmental stewardship to ensure long-term agricultural productivity and ecological balance.

Community Health Awareness

Community Health Awareness

MFEC works with communities to raise awareness on preventive and curative health practices, including communicable and non-communicable diseases, sanitation, and environmental health.

Entrepreneurship and Income Generation

Entrepreneurship & Income Generation

MFEC strengthens farmer groups and community members through entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, and support for income-generating activities to improve livelihoods and economic resilience.

Our Ongoing Projects

Mogabiri Farm Extension Centre implements practical projects that promote agroecology, climate resilience, community empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods for rural communities in Tanzania.

AgroKilimo Project

AgroKilimo Project is a two-year initiative (2025–2027) funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs through the Embassy of France in Tanzania. The project strengthens agroecology experimentation and demonstration centres by developing shared research principles, training systems, and networking among national partners.

Rural Development in a River Valley Project

This three-year project (2025–2028) focuses on improving the living standards of rural communities in Tarime District, Mara Region.
